Rockport Film Festival is proud to present RIP: A Remix Manifesto - an immersive, high energy documentary about the controversial world of remixing, sampling, and using copyrighted material to create new and cutting-edge music. Not limited to the music world, RIP raises questions about how far copyright law can go, how creative collaboration can be stifled by corporate ownership of music, images, and more. Let web activist Brett Gaylor and musician Greg Gillis, better known as Girl Talk, serve as your digital tour guides on a probing investigation into how culture builds upon culture in the information age.
RIP will screen during the Saturday Evening Block, starting at 7:30 pm (November 7). The Saturday evening block includes a selection of short films prior to RIP. Block tickets are available for $10 per person, or VIP Festival Passes are available for $50. Only three hours from Austin, Houston, and San Antonio, retreat to Rockport for a weekend!
International in scope but local in Texas flavor, the Rockport Film Festival’s mission is to celebrate independent cinema on the Texas coast. Visit www.rockportfilmfest.com for more details.
